DAY #3 = We sail to THE BVI!!!

We awoke to spectacular beauty yet again.  After a breakfast of french toast, we're gearing up for a day Today we sail to Jost Van Dyke, BVI.  We'll check into customs in Great Harbor.  Then we'll sail over to White Bay (home of the infamous Soggy Dollar Bar).

After that we'll sail either today or tomorrow on to Monkey Point to snorkel, and then we'll end at Soper's Hole stay at the Soper's Hole Wharf and Marina there.

Family pic (wish you were here Caroline!)

***So...we sailed to the BVI and absolutely loved the beauty of Jost Van Dyke (the smallest of the 4 main islands that comprise the BVI).  We checked into customs and had a ball exploring around the area of Great Harbor.  We then went to find the Soggy Dollar Bar - it was an eventful entry to say the least.

Claim to fame: The country music video for Kenny Chesney's 2002 song, No shoes, no shirt, no problem was filmed on and around Jost Van Dyke.
The police, fire department and courthouse of Jost Van Dyke

Ross trying to figure out a way to stay here forever! "Hmmm maybe I can expand my territory to include Jost van Dyke?"

Yes, that's going to be my screensaver

Easy checking into Customs at Great Harbor, Jost Van Dyke in the BVI

And...here's the Department of Agriculture:
Shopping "Hatchet's" wares:
Ali Baba's
Shopping and Painkillers (maybe not in that order!)

Our loot:
Shell bracelet, Conch shell and a Hatchet from Hatchet and ashtray made from - Ganga????

Cubans!
Ross and Will playing the ring game
A rousing game of RING GAME

No one really knows how or when this game started. Some stories claim Blackbeard and his crew took the bones of their prey and – with a noose made of hemp – played the Ring Game on the decks of their sloops. Other stories suggest the game was created in a local bar with the click of dice in the background.

The goal? It's very very tricky - - - you have to try to get a metal ring attached to a string onto a hook that's affixed to a tree.  That's it.

Looks like they're in a huge swimming pool!

We left Great Harbor, Jost Van Dyke and sailed to White Bay, Jost Van Dyke to get to the Soggy Dollar Bar
We FINALLY make it to the much anticipated and hyped Soggy Dollar Bar!
More of the Ring Game on White Bay
"Hey, we're athletic, why can't we get the RING on the HOOK?"

The guys then pulled the dinghy onto the beach, and then we realized that we left THE BIG GREEN BAG on the boat that contained ALL of our vitals (passports, wallets, camera!!!). So Ross volunteered to swim back to the boat to retrieve it.  Will then got the dinghy to work, and he flew it out to the boat as Ross arrived, and they came back to shore quickly.  Whew!  Who's ready for a painkiller???

Toasting with THE infamous Soggy Dollar Bar Painkillers!

Not too shabby huh?
My idea of heaven...

My guys

Relaxing on White Bay

Sadly, we had to eventually leave.  I could've stayed there forever.  No mooring overnight there however - now I see why!  There are nonstop waves, and it would be pretty miserable to be on a boat all night rocking and rolling like that.

We left White Bay and said "Goodbye" to Jost Van Dyke and sailed to Cane Garden Bay in Tortolla too hook up to moorings for the night.
